    2014-2015 Immunizations Information

The Kansas State Department of Health and Environment has issued new regulations for immunizations required for the 2014-2015 school year. As per Kansas Statute 72-5209, all children upon entry to school must be appropriately vaccinated. Copies of students' current immunizations may be obtained through Skyward Family Access on the school district's website (www.usd497.org) or by contacting your school nurse. For more information, download the 2014-2015 Immunizations Information Sheet.

    Winter Weather Reminder

When winter weather strikes a decision has to be made as to whether kids attend school that day. The district attempts to make a decision by 10:00 pm to call off school the next day. However, in most cases, a decision won't be made until morning. The goal is to make an announcement no later than 6:00 am. Tune to FM radio station 105.9 or local television stations for frequent school closings. The district also posts announcements on public radio access channel 6 and on the LPS website (www.usd497.org). The district also uses school messenger to call all parents to notify them of school closings.

After School Boys and Girls Club Enrollment

Many of you may have already pre-enrolled for the Boys and Girls club. If not, please call Lindsay Simms at 423-3695 if you have questions about the program.

Enrollment is on a first come - first serve basis. The program runs from 3:00-5:30 MTTF and 1:30-5:30 on Wednesdays. The fee is $40 a week with some scholarships available (fee subject to change).

School Day Drop Off and Pick Up Times

Doors to the building are locked until 7:30 am when staff are officially on duty. For the safety of your children, we must insist that children are not dropped off unsupervised before this time.

Students must also be picked up by 3:00 pm- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. They must be picked up by 1:30 pm on Wednesdays. There is NO supervision for your child after school is dismissed unless enrolled in Boys and Girls Club.

    Playground after School

The Boys and Girls Club has exclusive usage of our playgrounds for their after school program. Therefore, we can not allow students to play on the outside equipment unsupervised until after 5:30pm. The only exception is if a parent is physically with their child to supervise while they are playing. We will have several staff members outside to help monitor the dismissal of students. Unsupervised children will be asked to leave the school grounds immediately after school.

Please help us by reminding your children to come home right after school.

    Thank you!

    Visitor/Parent Sign In

When you come to the building during school hours, 8:00-3:00, please sign in at the front desk and put a Deerfield sticker on. This lets others in the building know that you have signed in at the office!
